Here’s how it works: We give filmmakers just 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and deliver their films. That’s it. Three days. No time for second-guessing, no room for perfectionism—just pure, raw creativity fueled by caffeine, chaos, and passion. What comes out of this pressure cooker? Pure cinematic magic.

Since its start, the 72 Film Fest has been more than just a festival—it’s a movement. Over the past 19 years, we’ve screened more than 800 short films, showcasing the incredible talent brewing in Frederick and beyond. From hilarious comedies to jaw-dropping dramas, quirky animations to experimental masterpieces, this isn’t just another film fest. It’s a celebration of storytelling in its rawest, most unfiltered form.
